Princess
Diana, many US First Ladies, and Cherie Blair have consulted Psychics.
It is a professional service, which of late has gained a high profile and
credibility. However an initial
study by Dr Robin Shepherd of Auckland University’s Centre for Gambling
Studies has concerns about people becoming addicted to 0900 Psychics.
Some years
ago I worked as Phone Psychic, so with my first hand experience I would like to
address some of the issues raised on the TV ONE interview with Mark Sainsbury.
When a person
uses a 0900 number, they pay for the call on their phone account.
If they make several calls in a week Telecom phones them to ask if the
bill payer is aware. Should they not pay their bill, the 0900 line will not
receive any money. The company I worked for had a 20 minute limit, and if one of
the psychics went over time, we had to pay back the company $1 per minute.
I was
interviewed and tested for my Psychic abilities. I would not have been
contracted had I failed to reach a high degree of accuracy.
I know I helped a great many people over the years, on a wide range of
questions mostly around love, money and career, but at times I was called to
address some very serious, life threatening issues.
As well as studying for many years in the psychic field, I am also a
qualified therapist. This enabled me to counsel callers from a
professional perspective, and make referrals to appropriate agencies where
necessary.
People can
become addicted to so many things, which can cause huge problems, such as
gambling, cigarettes, drugs and alcohol. Most Psychics are genuine caring people
who provide a valuable community service, and often help people with these
problems to seek appropriate professional help.
A call to a 0900 Psychic may be the first step to treatment.
I am
concerned that this research is only seeing one side of the coin, and making
people think that Psychics are uncaring, and ignorant of the deeper issues of
the human Psyche. Nothing could be
further from the truth.
